Most trekkers ascending the Langtang trek with  Kyanjin RI will climb up nearly 1000m/3200 ft. from Kyanjin Gumba’s small village ( Known as Tserco Ri or Cherkhuri 4985 M). Before the clouds begin to build up in the afternoon and while the ground is still frozen, it is best to get an early start. I started for the summit around 7 am but it could have been a little easier to go at 5:30 or 6 am since the sun was already beginning to melt the frozen earth making the relatively steep trail somewhat slippery.

When Kyanjin RI first comes into view on the way up to Kyanjin Gumba a number of small trails can be seen switching up and it is easy to assume the peak is the small point topped by flags of prayer just behind Kyanjin Gumba. This small point is actually about two-thirds of the way up and the actual summit from Kyanjin Gumba is not clear. I’ve seen plenty of trekkers turning around at this stage but if you’ve made it that far it’s worth going all the way up as the view from the top is much more welcoming than that.

Advance INFO about Langtang Kyanjin RI Trek With Tserco Ri Hike

The views are amazing while up at the top. To the northwest below the peak you can see the whole face of Langtang Lirung and the Langtang Lirung Glacier. The glacier’s broad lateral moraines are clearly visible but a thick layer of debris covers most of the remaining ice of this retreating glacier. Changbu and Yubra are situated just to the right of Langtang Lirung. It is easy to identify Changbu and Yubra as they are separated by a large glacier with a steep gradient best described as a series of ice falls.

Yalla Peak is visible to the northeast but with the aid of a map it helps to locate it, as it lies below the more prominent Tserko Peak Tsergo RI lies just to the southwest, with a clearly visible Langtang trail leading to the top. If you’ve got an extra day Tsergo RI also makes a great climb. To the south across the valley you can see Naya Kanga to the southwest and the Kangja La Himal to the right of it.

Highlights of Langtang Trek Kyanjin Ri With (Tserco Ri) Cherkhuri Ri Hike
