We will start our travel early in the morning after breakfast. We will travel from Pokhara to Nayapul via local bus, which will take us about one and a half hour to reach Nayapul.

Nayapul is the starting point of our trek. Following our arrival at Nayapul, our permits will be checked. After that, we will set up our hiking to Tikhedhunga, a small village on the way to Ghorepani with a few numbers of lodges for accommodation

The beautiful meadows, streams and suspension bridges on the trail will add extra flavor to your trek. It will take around 4-5 hours to reach Tikhedhunga from Nayapul.

After walking half an hour on the bank of Modi River we will get to Birethanti(1100m), a small village at the bank of Modi River. After a hike of 4 hours from Birethanti, we will get to Hile(1500m). From Hile, it is just a short climb to Tikhedhunga.

Tikhedhunga has a lot to offer us. Magnificent view of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Fishtail and Himchuli, splendid hospitality of locals, and traditionally-built tea houses are its identity. We will stay overnight in a tea house in Tikhedhunga.

Trek Hours:5-6 hours

Altitude: 2800m

Following our breakfast in Tikhedhunga, we will start our second-day trek. It is comparatively more difficult than our first-day trek. We have to ascend through a steep uphill section to Ulleri (2,070m).

Today we will hike for nearly 5-6 hours. From Ulleri via pasture land, oak, and rhododendron forest, we will reach Banthanti(2200m). The views from Banthanti will take your breath away.

Then from Banthali, we will hike up to Nangthanti(2500m) crossing several hillocks and babbling streamlets. On the way to Nangthanti, the splendid view of mountains like Annapurna, I and Annapurna South can be enjoyed.

Ghorepani is a 1-hour hike from Nangthanti. After hiking for 1 hour, we will get to Ghorepani, the stop for our day 2 trek.

Trek Hours:  7-8 hours

Today is the last day of our trek. We will hike to Poon Hill. From there, it will take us around 1 hour to reach the top. The major attraction of this trek is the beautiful sunrise view from Poon Hill. So, today we will start our trek before dawn, to make sure that we will not miss the sunrise.

When we reach the top of the hill, the dawn will break down and slowly from the back of hills sun shows up in the horizon. Now, the majestic scene unfolds there. The view of the orangish sky and the sunrays-kissed mountains are so magnificent to look at and are worth trekking for three days. After enjoying valuable time on the top, we will backtrack to Ghorepani.

Following our breakfast in Ghorepani, we will retrace our steps downhills through Tikhedhunga to Banthanti to Nayapul. Since we will be descending, our hike will be a bit easier.

Which is the best season to visit Poon Hill?

Poonhill Trek 3 Days

Poon Hill's peak trekking season is from September to November and then from March to May. Hiking in December and January is still feasible, but be mindful that winter conditions will produce an icy experience (temperatures will drop below-15c during peak season!), while May is the beginning of the monsoon season and signals a rise in potentially wet days. You'll have to do the hike in April to see the famous Rhododendrons in full bloom, and we believe this is the best time to walk Poon Hill as the views are spectacular and the weather is nice.
