Take an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla from the aircraft. Flight time is around 35 minutes to the airstrip which was made by Sir Edmund Hillary and the Sherpas in the 1960s. After landing we will have time to explore the village while the Sherpa crew load the trekking language and equipment. In the afternoon, we begin the trek by descending to the Dudh Kosi River, where we join the main trail to Namche Bazaar which is just above Chaurikharka at 2713m. The walking is easy and even with pain and after passing through the small village of Ghat at 2550m, it’s a short walk to the Phakding region.

After our acclimatization day at Namche Bazaar, we’ll start our next morning at the Everest Gokyo Lake Trek fully and will get some rested and will be ready to hike. Our path descends gently through Sherpa villages clustered beneath to a staggering peak such as Taboche, Cholatse, and the mighty Ama Dablam.

If we’re lucky, we see the wildlife like the Himalayan tahr or the danphe, Nepal’s own national bird. Later we go to the mountain pass of Mong La, which is a best place to stop for tea while enjoying some truly very outstanding views. From here, we’ll trek down through a pleasant forest of pine and giant fir, passing through the town of Phortse Thenga and climbing once more to arrive at Dole. This is also a lovely mountain village that are craved with stone walls, green fields, and sweeping views of Thamserku and Kangtega. We will be have hard-earned dinner and a good night’s rest.

You will start on the high trail to EBC till the rest point at Kyangjuma. From Sansa, the trail takes off west hugging the mountains at your left. The tenacious climb to Mong la (3,990m) is rewarding with distant view of Ama Dablam to the east. After lunch, you will go down the valley in a series of steep switchbacks through a rhododendron and pine forest and finally cross a suspension bridge over the raging Dudh Koshi River. There is also a short ahead lies the village of Phortse Thanga, where you can stay for the night.

The path climbs up steeply and climbing could go roughly forty minutes. It meanders down to Dole which is a small Sherpa settlement and again has to go up. Walk on a ridge with excellent views before finally arriving at Machhermo.

This is one of the toughest but most breathtaking scene portions of the trek. You are now in Gokyo Valley and the sights are also quite memorable. Cho Oyu is the sixth highest mountain in the world and will appear as if there are near to you. There are two very steep climbs on the hike. The journey would be tough as you have to climb the rocky trail. After the ascents, the path soon evens out and you reach the first for the Gokyo Lakes. Walk on and reach the third lake, Gokyo Tso which is also known as Dudh Pokhari. It is the source of Dudh Koshi or Milky River which flows down along the Everest Way. The village of Gokyo lies on the bank of this beautiful lake.

It's time to bid to say goodbye to Lukla and Khumbu. You will be heading down to the tiny Lukla Airport and should board the aircraft. As the plane moves at a narrow airstrip you can't help but get some thrill in your veins. Enjoy the scenic mountain views before landing at the domestic airport at Kathmandu.
