Tour Overview

As we all know, Nepal is a land of mountains. In Nepal alone, 8 out of 14 world’s highest peaks above 8,000 m reside. Moreover, Nepal has the maximum number of summits with a total of 1,310, including the World’s Highest Peak, Mount Everest (8,848.86 m). In 1921, the first Everest Expedition took place by a team of British mountaineers following the north col route from the Tibetan side, reaching a height of 7,000 m. The following year, the 1922 expedition earned a milestone of reaching 8,320 m making a human record climb above 8,000 m. Another expedition to Everest took place in 1924, which is still debatable. There is a discussion still ongoing on whether George Mallory and Andrew Irvine reached Everest’s top or not. Nevertheless, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa reached the Everest summit in 1953 making history for reaching the highest point on earth. .

Ever since then, global mountaineers have flocked to Nepal to fulfill their dream of a lifetime to climb Mount Everest and experience how it feels to be on top of the world.

Everest Expedition Difficulty

Climbing Everest is not a cup of tea for everyone. Even the most experienced climbers and mountaineers struggle at this high altitude. The extreme, unpredictable weather conditions, freezing temperature, avalanches, low oxygen level, and steep routes make this Everest Expedition tough and a life-risking adventure. Still, global mountaineers do not hesitate to take risks to accomplish their lifetime goal of reaching the Everest summit. To get to the summit, one has to train both physically and mentally, as it requires both to sustain one in such extreme conditions. Therefore, beforehand plan and preparation must be done before the expedition starts.

The main danger for the climbers is the Death Zone ( the most dangerous area above 8,000 m). The oxygen level is too low at this height, below freezing point temperature, freezing strong wind, low atmospheric pressure, and exhausting routes. All these factors make weak even the most physically and mentally healthy individuals. However, with a well-planned itinerary and an experienced team, one can reach the Everest summit. To adjust to such climate and altitude, the team leader sets goals on various camps to ensure safety and energize for the ultimate journey.

Best Time for Everest Expedition

The weather on Everest is quite unpredictable. If anything goes wrong or does not work as planned, then life-threatening accidents might occur. So, climbing at the incorrect time and season is a must. The best time to ascend Mt. Everest is from April to mid of June and September to early November. However, most mountaineers choose April to May as an ideal time for Everest Peak Climbing due to clear visibility and warm temperature compared to the winter season.

How Long is Everest Climbing?

Unlike other Everest trekkings, Everest Expedition is much longer, and its standard interval is a minimum of 2 months. It includes the day of arrival, sightseeing in Kathmandu, trekking to Everest Base camp, acclimatization, ascending to the summit, and returning to Kathmandu. Extra days might get added if additional days are required for acclimatization or if the weather gets unfavourable or someone gets sick. Even a single mistake and carelessness can lead to major accidents at such altitude because the weather worsens, avalanches might occur, climbing gears might fail, altitude sickness might occur, and stiff ascending over the thick snow. So, these factors make Everest Expedition dangerous and time-consuming.
