Tour Overview

Everest High Passes Trekking is for those who intend on crossing Everest High Passes without any technical climbing. This trekking offers a wonderful experience by exploring the natural beauty, geological magnificence and profound cross-cultural diversities of the area. 

Everest High Passes trekking starts after Kathmandu Day Tour then you take a scenic mountain flight to Lukla. Then, trails pass through Dudh Koshi River, Sagarmatha National Park, rhododendron forest, Sherpa settlements, Gompas, and ancient monasteries; until we reach Namche Bazaar where we spend two nights for acclimatization and exploration.

We continue our trek to Tengboche and finally, we reach to Lobuche after crossing Kongma La pass. The Kongma La pass lies on the way to the Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. After completing the classic climbing routes to the summit of Everest; we then traverse over the Cho La Pass to the alpine pastures and lakes of Gokyo. From Gokyo RI we enjoy the outstanding views of Everest with other snowy peaks. Also, you can see the Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier int he Himalayas.

From Renjo La pass provides panoramic views of the Everest and other Himalayan ranges. The Renjo-La Pass route is off the beaten track. From the Pass, you can see Gokyo lakes, Rermo Pokhari, and numerous snowy peaks in the background. In addition, en route, you might also see the Himalayan Thar, musk deer, danphe, Himalayan cock roaming around the mountain-sides. After Thame, we will trek downhill to Lukla via Namche and take the flight back to Kathmandu.

November and December are the best times to do Everest High Passes trekking. As the weather accentuated by clear, blue skies with empty, peaceful trails. Everest high passes trekking is only for the extreme adventure enthusiasts. For less experienced trekkers, you can have Everest Cho La Pass Trek.

Detail Itinerary

Once you landed on Kathmandu, our agency representative will welcome and greet you there. Then, he will drive you towards your hotel at Thamel. After refreshment, we will meet you at our office for a short meeting on an upcoming trip. Overnight at Thamel.

Altitude: Lukla (2,860m), Phakding (2,650m)

Duration: 25 minutes of flight, 3 hours.

The day starts with an early flight towards the gateway of Everest, which is land to one of the World’s Most Dangerous Airports. This 25 minutes scenic flight offers wonderful outlook at the hilly region of Nepal, whichdisplay beautiful villages, valleys, springs, forests, etc. Once you land at Tenzing Norgay Airport, Lukla, you can take a moment to observe your first glance at Everest. Meeting your porters there, the trek starts along the dusty pathway on the edge of the DudhKosiriver until you reach Phakding. Phakding is a beautiful village in Khumbu District where you stay overnight.

Altitude: 3,440m.

Duration: 6 hours.

With an early breakfast, you start walking through an alluring forest of rhododendrons, oaks, and pines and finally arrive at Monjo village. A few more distance of the walk, you will arrive at the TIIMS Card check post also the entrance gateway of Sagarmatha National Park. Entering this preserved area need permits. After getting permits, you walk in one of the UNESCO Heritage sites of Nepal, which provides shelter to numerous rare species of flora and fauna. You stop at one of the teahouses for lunch after that you cross the highest suspension bridge over the DudhKosiRiver. From here, you climb steeply until you meet the streets of Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Namche Bazaar.

Today you take a day off for acclimatization and rest as it is a must for health safety. Beginning the day with a delightful breakfast at Namche while staring at the Himalayas is a wonderful feeling. Namche is famous for local markets, Tibetan Handicraft shops, bakeries, cafes, museums, etc. You can visit these places for refreshment and relaxation. Besides that, you can have a short visit to Nepal’s Highest Altitude Hotel located at Syanboche for breakfast or lunch. It is a popular destination for Everest View Trek. After that, you return to Namche for overnight.

Altitude: 3860m.

Duration: 5hrs

Today's target is to reach the largest monastery of the Khumbu region. You start walking among the rhododendrons and pines forest until it brings you to the village of Sansa. Sansa is a point from where Everest Gokyo Valley Trek and Everest Base Camp Trek trails divide. You then cross several suspension bridges that bring you to PhungiTanga where you have lunch. From here, you take a steep climb to the village of Tengboche. You can visit the monastery to explore and get blessings from Lamas but remember to follow their rules and regulations. Overnight at Tengboche. 

Altitude: 4,410m.

Duration: 5hrs

From Tengboche, you start with a downhill-forestedwalk; crossing suspension bridges next, you will ascent gradually over dry land until you arrive village of Pangboche. Pangboche has a 16th-century monastery that claims to have a skull of Yeti. A few more walking, you reach the remote village of Dingboche. Dingboche is a popular destination for ImaTse or Island Peak Climbing. It acts as a major point that separates Mount Everest Base Camp Trek and ImaTse Peak Climbing routes. Overnight at Dingboche.

Altitude: 4,700m.

Duration: 3 to 4 hrs

Today's trek starts with a gradual ascending towards the Chhukung village. On the way, you can see small animals huts built to keep animals during the grazing season. From the valley of Chhukung, you can experience wonderful views of Everest, Nuptse, ImaTse, AmaDablam, Thamserku, etc. Overnight at Chhukung.

Altitude: Kongma La Pass (5,335m), Lobuche (4,910m).

Duration: 6 hours

Today, you trek one of the Three High Pass, which is Kongma La Pass (5,335m). First, you walk over the plain region of the valley until you take a steep climb over the summit of Kongma La Pass. From the top, you can see magnificent views of the entire Himalayas. Then, you take a steep downhill walk towards the highest altitude glacier of Nepal, Khumbu Glacier. Walking over the glacier for hours, you reach Lobuche. Overnight at Lobuche.

Today is the ultimate day of this trek as you visit the base camp of Mount Everest. The trails start along the Khumbu glacier with a gradual ascend then a downhill walk until you reach a large moraine of Changri glacier. From here, you take the steep climb to the small village of Gorakshep, the last human settlement before reaching EBC. On the way to Gorakshep, you have wide and close views of the Himalayas where Pumori and AmaDablam are dominating the views. After keeping your bag at the hotel, you then start hiking towards the base camp of Everest.

The trails are full of rocky scrambled rocks, glaciated pathway with a slight inclination. The trails are moderate and short but the main thing that affects the most is elevation and oxygen level. You will walk along the Khumbu icefall while enjoying the glimpse of Pumori and Everest. A few hours of hard work, you reach the base camp of Everest, which is embellished with religious prayer flags, country flags, messages and more. Exploring the base camp, you then head back to Gorakshep for overnight.

Altitude: Kala Patthar (5,545m), Dzongla (4,710m)

Duration: 7 hours

Today, you take an early hike around 4 am to experience a once in a lifetime sunrise views from Kala Patthar. Kala Patthar is one of the most visited destinations in the Himalayas; as it offers a 360-degree wide picture of entire Himalayan ranges. Besides that, it offers one of the best sunrise and sunset views over the Himalayas. After that, you head back to Gorakshep from here you move to Dzongla. Walking over the rocky and dust trails for hours you arrive near CholaTshoLake and a few more walking you reach the Dzongla. Overnight at Dzongla.

Altitude: Thangna, Cho La Pass(5,370m)

Duration: 7 hours.

Today, you will cross the second pass of Three High Pass, Cho La Pass. The trails start with a steep incline walk over the scrambled rocks up to the summit. From here, you can have amazing scenery of Ngozumpa glacier and Khumbu glacier along with spectacular views of snow peaks. After that, you take a steep descend towards Thangna for overnight.

Altitude: 4,790m.

Duration: 4 hrs.

From Thangna, you stroll over the glaciated pathway then following the DudhKosiriver you reach the Gokyo valley. It is a famous destination for Everest Gokyo Valley Trek, as it possesses immensely beautiful GokyoLake and Gokyo village surrounded by sky touching snowy mountains. Overnight at Gokyo.

Altitude: 5,357m

Duration: 4 hours

Today you will have daybreak for acclimatization. On this day, you can have a short hike to GokyoRi, which is a famous viewpoint for extraordinary sunrise and sunset views along with panoramic views. From GokyoRi, you can outlook at the largest glacier of Nepal, Nzogumpa glacier. Then, you head back to Gokyo. Overnight at Gokyo.

 

Altitude: Lungden(4,300m), Renjo La Pass (5,340m)

Duration: 7 hours

The day starts with a lovely breakfast at Gokyo. After that the most challenging part of this trek i.e. climbing Renjo La pass starts. You climb over the steep pathway of rocky and snowy trails that leads you to the peak of the Renjo La pass. The views of Gokyo Valley, Nzogumpa glacier, the Himalayas, etc are marvelous and breathtaking to watch. Then, you descend steeply for hours to reach Lungden. Overnight at Lungden.

Altitude: 3800m

Duration: 4hrs

Leaving Lungden, you start downhill walk to the north following the DudhKosiriver until you reach the picturesque village of Thame. From Thame, you can enjoy remarkable views of Thamserku, Kangtega, KusumKanguru, etc. Overnight at Thame.

Altitude: 3440m.

Duration: 4hrs

Today's trail is a mixture of uphill and downhill walk to Namche Bazaar. At Namche, you can visit local markets and can buy items at a cheap price to take home as a gift from Nepal. Overnight at Namche.

Altitude: 2,800m.

Duration: 7 hrs.

From Namche, the trails are mostly a downhill walk as it passes through Sagarmatha National Park, suspension bridges, forest, etc which you had crossed earlier. At Phakding, you stop for a while to have lunch. Then, you follow the easy walking over the flat routes to Lukla. Overnight at Lukla.

Altitude: 1,400m

Duration: 25 minutes

With the last breakfast at Lukla, you take a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Within 25 minutes, you land at Kathmandu and then escorted to your hotel. Later, we meet again to gain some idea about your experiences from this trip. Overnight at Thamel.

On your last day at Kathmandu, one of our agency representatives will drop you to the Kathmandu International Airport on your schedule. Lastly, we say goodbye to you by wishing a safe flight back home.
