Tour Overview

Everest High Passes trekking is designed for those who intent on crossing high passes in the Everest region without any technical climbing. This trekking offers a wonderful experience by exploring natural beauty, geological magnificence and profound cross-cultural diversities of the area. The Sherpas of Upper Khumbu, the great valley below Mount Everest are considered to be sacred.

Everest High Passes trekking starts from Lukla after 45 minute mountain flight from Kathmandu. Then, we follow the classical trail passing through Dudh Koshi River, Sagarmatha National Park, colorful landscapes, rhododendron forest, Sherpa settlements, Gompas and monasteries until we reach Namche Bazaar where we spend two nights for acclimatization and exploration.

We continue our trek to Tengboche and finally we reach to Lobuche after crossing Kongma La pass. The Kongma La pass lies on the way to the Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar. After identifying the classic climbing routes to the summit of Everest we complete a spectacular traverse over the Cho La to the alpine pastures and lakes of Gokyo. From Gokyo RI we enjoy the outstanding views of Everest. A day excursion to the fourth and fifth lakes would be an extra attraction of the Gokyo Valley from where you will enjoy the great views. The Ngozumpa Glacier is considered the largest in the Nepal Himalayas.

After crossing Renjo La pass (5338m) we reach to Lungden and then Thame. Renjo La pass provides panoramic views of the Everest and other Himalayan mountain range. The Renjo-La Pass route is off the beaten track. From the Pass, a great view of the Gokyo lakes on one side, the Rermo Pokhari lakes on the other side, and numerous snowy peaks are seen in the background. In addition, en route you might also see the Himalayan thar, musk deer, danphe (Nepal’s national bird), blood pheasant, Himalayan snow-cock, snow-pigeon and chukkar roaming around the mountain-sides. After Thame we will trek downhill to Lukla via Namche and take the flight back to Kathmandu.

November and December are the best times to do Everest High Passes trekking as the surrounding Himalayan peaks accentuated by clear, blue skies and you don’t see other trekkers along the route like in the high season.Everest high passes trekking is only for the adventure enthusiasts not for the novice. But still those who have already had high altitude trekking in the Himalaya can also attempt it.

Ram takes care of his clients, I felt safe even in the most unfammiliar environment. My worries became taking pictures, if any problem possibility came up Ram had already taken care of before…
