Tour Overview

Salleri Everest Base Camp Trek takes quite close to the footsteps of the early expeditions to Everest Base Camp.  Also known by Phaplu Everest Base Camp Trek.

The construction of the roadway that connects Salleri from Kathmandu took place quite recently. Before that, the  Phaplu Everest Base Camp trek was possible only through a flight.

The Salleri Everest Base Camp trek starts after a 9-10 hour bus ride to Salleri. This bus ride offers scenic views of villages, high hills and Mt. Everest from Pattale village. Salleri is merely 20 minutes of a trek away from Phaplu. From Salleri, you will trek for 4 days before getting to Phakding. From Phakding, you will join the regular Everest Base Camp trek. Thus, it is a very good alternative to Jiri Everest Base Camp trek.

Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek is also a very good way of acclimatizing to the high altitude of the Everest region. As this trek starts from an altitude of 2300 meters. This makes the process of acclimatization very good.

In this Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek you visit places like Tengboche Monastery and Kala Patthar. Tengboche Monastery gives you a sense of the culture of Tibetan Buddhism in the Everest region.

The morning sunrise views of the mountains from Kala Patthar are also equally astounding. Kala Patthar is the best place to see Mt. Everest in the Everest region trek. It also offers beautiful views of Nuptse and Changtse.

Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek by Nepal Hiking Adventure has everything a good trekking route has to offer. It is relatively quiet, takes you over the off-beaten trails; while offering majestic views of the mountains, dense forest, suspension bridges, scenic cultural villages and more.

A perfect place to spend your day-Nagarjuna hill- is a popular spot in Dingboche that gives you staggering glimpses of Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Island Peak and Chukung Ri. The ridge at Thugla Pass is a beautiful spot for mountain viewing. You trek will be punctuated by memorials of mountaineers who died on the way to climbing Everest. Lobuche village, which lies at an altitude of 4900 meters, is one hour of trek away from Thugla Pass ridge. Lobuche is at the base of the Khumbu glacier. A much needed break in Gorak Shep will be followed by a trek to Everest Base Camp. You will encounter plenty of rocky dunes, moraine, and streams during the trail to the Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp offers you the best views of Mt. Khumbutse, Khumbu glacier and Khumbu Icefall. You will head back to Gorak Shep after spending some quality time in Everest Base Camp. You will spend your night in Gorak Shep.

Today the hike starts quite early in the morning. You will head out to Kala Patthar to get some of the most splendid views sunrise. Lhotse and other peaks from Kala Pathar will be something you will cherish all your life.

The trail mostly descends down with some exceptions of some gentle uphills along the way from the bridge. The trail enjoins Tengboche after an hours’ walk. Along the way, you can enjoy the wonderful beauty of the alpine vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park. Eventually, you will reach Namche Bazaar.

This will be the final day of trekking. You will trek to Lukla after making way for a 6 hours trekking journey. Today’s trek one of the most pleasant in in the entire trip. Additional Info

Best Time for Salleri (Phaplu) Everest Base Camp Trek

The two best seasons for the Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek are Spring (March, April, and May) and Autumn (September, October, and November).

These two seasons have low precipitation, moderate sunshine, extremely low wind speeds, and delightful views of the mountains. All of these make trekking in these two seasons perfect.

Winter (December, January, and February) in the Everest region is quite cold. The temperature in the winter can get to even -20 degrees C in the nighttime. With proper packing, you can deal with the cold. Winter also gives you the most wonderful views of the mountains.  You will enjoy off-season discounts in the winters.

The trekking trails might be wet in the summers due to the monsoon. So there are always chances of interruptions. So you always have to watch out for the weather. You also have to keep some spare days as well as pack properly.

Salleri (Phaplu) Everest Base Camp Trek Difficulty

The starting point of the Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek is Salleri. This is quite different from the regular Everest Base Camp trek that starts from Lukla. So you have to trek an additional 4 days to get to Phakding.

This makes the Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek a bit more strenuous than the regular Everest Base Camp trek. You will trek for a total of 13 days during the Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek. You will cover approximately 15 kilometers each day trekking 5-6 hours each day.

So you will have to prepare for 2-3 months before coming to the Salleri (Phalpu) Everest Base Camp Trek. You can also do a few preparatory hikes before coming to this trek as a part of your preparation.

Review

GREAT AND MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE

We had planned for Everest Base camp trek through Nepal Hiking Adventure Company starting from Phaplu to have good trekking experience passing through Sherpa villages. It was found more excitement and thrilling experience . We could successfully finish the trek at the age of 60+ without any problem with the support of our guide Mr. Kamal and Porter Mr. Bahadur Singh. Mr. Bishnu, MD of the company has planned our trek program so well keeping our comfort level high . We are very much satisfied with the arrangements and a great trekking experience in Nepal.
