There are other regions as well in Nepal which as least popular as Everest and Annapurna regions. Some of the other regions are Dolpo region, Makalu region, Dhaulagiri region and Kanchenjunga region.

Located in the northeast of Nepal, Makalu area is home to the 5th highest mountain in the world, Mt. Makalu (8,485 m). The mountain the straddles the border between Nepal and China (Tibet) and is a major source that drives the Makalu Barun Valley for Arun and Barun River.

Other notable mountains in the region, apart from the Makalu peak, include Chamalang (7,319 m), Kang Chun Tse (7,678 m), Chomo Lonzo (7,804 m), Baruntse (7,129 m), and Mera (6,654 m). Other visible mountains from the Makalu valley include Chamlang (7321 m), Peak 6 (6524 m) and Peak 7 (6758 m). Thousands of mountaineers go to the area of Makalu to climb Mt. Makalu, one of the most difficult 8000ers. The Makalu area is popular for both mountaineering and trekking since it was climbed in 1955 by the French expedition Herbert and Lionel.

Dhaulagiri, separated by Kali Gandaki Gorge from the Annapurna region comprises some fifteen peaks above 7000 m. A pair of mountains that translate' White Mountain' is the world's largest. The trekking in this region is fairly difficult but the trekkers who are willing to spend their holidays with nature and natural surroundings full of peace and tranquility choose this better trekking destination "Off the beaten track."
