Overview

The Mardi Himal Trek is one of Nepal’s newest and most peaceful trekking routes, officially opened in 2011. Despite being a relatively fresh trail, it offers spectacular natural beauty and remains one of the hidden gems of the Annapurna region. With fewer crowds, untouched landscapes, and close-up views of the majestic Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain), this trek provides a refreshing alternative to more popular trails like Annapurna Base Camp.

Located beneath the striking Fishtail Peak, the Mardi Himal Trek by Nepal Hiking Adventure takes you along the eastern ridge of the Annapurna Base Camp route. The journey begins after a scenic 6 to 7-hour drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From Pokhara, a short drive leads you to Phedi, where the trek officially starts. The trail gently ascends to Dhampus and Pothana before climbing toward Pritam Deurali through beautiful forested hills. From Deurali, the ascent continues to Forest Camp and then gradually opens into alpine landscapes as you move toward Low Camp and finally High Camp at 3,580 meters.

The highlight of the 10 Days Mardi Himal Trek is reaching Mardi Himal Base Camp at an altitude of 4,500 meters. The trail passes through lush rhododendron forests, steep ridges, and rugged terrain with stunning panoramic views throughout the route. Along the way, you will walk through charming villages like Siding, Phedi, Pothana, Landruk, and more, each offering warm hospitality through local homestays and guesthouses. The trek beautifully blends natural beauty with cultural richness as you encounter traditional Gurung and Magar communities.

With its incredible mountain vistas, diverse flora and fauna, and peaceful trails, the Mardi Himal Trek offers a memorable Himalayan experience. The views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Mardi Himal are mesmerizing, especially during sunrise and sunset from High Camp. Mardi Himal Trek by Nepal Hiking Adventure explores through the mythic Himalayas.

For trekkers seeking extra adventure, the Mardi Himal route can also be combined with the famous Poon Hill Trek.

Mardi himal trek

When I was choosing the trek, I contacted a couple of companies in Nepal and the Nepal hiking adventure was the fastest in answering my email. They also were friendly and helpful in choosing the route, answering the incoming questions, and so on. We had quite a smooth organizational process overall. The trekking itself was great, we did the Mardi Himal and enjoyed it a lot. Our guide Raj and the porter were very friendly, told us a lot of stories, and made the whole experience nicer. Raj brought us to nice tea houses along the way so we had pretty awesome lodging as well as food. The trek was beautiful and interesting. We were lucky to have good weather in September and less clouds than usual, some days the mountains were very clear so it was an unforgettable experience in general! I recommend the Nepal hiking adventure, it was everything I was hoping for!

Mardi Himal Trek (A virgin trails in Nepal)

It is my second time in Nepal before it was 1 year ago. Last year, I went for Kathmandu City Tour with some hiking around the Nagarkot. This year I planned for short and easy hiking so I read blogs, reviews and articles related to short treks in Nepal and landed on Nepal Hiking Adventure site. After analyzing, I contacted company’s manager Bishnu Lamsal. He was so kind and calming, he answers my question very gentle and provides information on popular Nepal short treks. Finally, I landed on Mardi Himal Trek after listening to the amazing highlights of this trek. After On my arrival to Kathmandu, Nepal there was Ram who was going to be my trek guide to Mardi Himal. I find him very fun and caring type person. He asked how my flight was, did I eat anything or not.
After reaching hotel I refreshed up and went to their company to discuss about the trip. They give me brief information about the trip. From the start of this trip, our tour guide Ram starts providing information of beautiful villages, their culture, monastery, Himalayan ranges and more. He showed us what we are looking for. He explore us around these local villages of Gurung and Magars. Truly learned great things from these villages and our guide. The trails was easy to moderate while ascending and descending was easy and fast. Along the way, I used to talk with our guide and porters. At teahouses he used to tell jokes and I have to laugh with them even though I can’t understand them.
The great team of Nepal Hiking Adventure makes this trip of mine an unforgettable adventure of my life. I highly recommend this Mardi Himal Trek for those who want to experience Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges without spending long days of trekking. A great thank you to Nepal Hiking Adventure team and recommend to you all to visit this agency if you ever made your trip to Nepal.
