Overview
Maha Shivaratri Festival is a grand Hindu festival celebrated annually in the holy temple of Pashupatinath. Maha Shivaratri means the great night of Lord Shiva. Unlike other Hindus Festivals in Nepal, Maha Shivaratri Festival is a night festival. Devotees gather near the bank of holy Bagmati river for grand Aarti Ceremony. Arati ceremony is a Hindu ritual where the top-class priest offers light to lord shiva; while chanting stotram of Lord Shiva.
Throughout the night, devotees keep singing devotional songs along with tandav dance.

Night Exploration at Pashupatinath Temple.
You start your first day in Nepal with a delightful breakfast. Then you can explore around streets of Thamel embellished with colorful flags, antics, paintings, tea shops. Besides that, you can have a short sightseeing tour around Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Patan and Kathmandu Durbar Square.
At night, our tour guide will pick you up and drive to Pashupatinath Temple. Soon reaching the temple area, you can see large crowds of devotees along the way to the main temple. You will then walk towards the bank of Bagmati river where priests are getting ready for an epic Aarti ceremony. After the ceremony, you can either return to the hotel or stay the whole night celebrating the festival.
