Best Season for Annapurna Base Camp Trek 8 Days
The Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be done throughout the year, but the experience varies significantly depending on the season. Choosing the right time is essential to enjoy clear mountain views, safe trails, and comfortable weather.
Spring (March – May) is widely considered the best season for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, and it is particularly ideal for the 8-day itinerary. During this period, the weather is pleasant and the trails are vibrant. Daytime temperatures range from 15 to 20°C at lower elevations and 0 to 10°C near Annapurna Base Camp. The forests and meadows come alive with rhododendron blooms, orchids, ferns, and other alpine flowers, creating a stunning trekking experience. Clear skies during spring allow panoramic views of peaks such as Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and Gangapurna. The trekking trail experiences moderate crowds, which makes it a great time for first-time trekkers or those completing the 8-day trek. Spring is perfect for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek 8 Days because it allows trekkers to enjoy all the scenic beauty without worrying about heavy rainfall or harsh weather.
Autumn (September – November) is another excellent season for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. The Annapurna Base Camp Trek 8 Days is highly recommended in this period as the weather is stable, skies are clear, and the Himalayan peaks are visible in their full glory. Temperatures range from 12 to 18°C at lower altitudes and -2 to 5°C at higher elevations like Annapurna Base Camp. The rivers and waterfalls remain clear after the monsoon, and the forests are lush and green. Autumn is the peak trekking season, so trails can be busier, but this also ensures well-functioning tea houses and services along the route. The short 8-day itinerary benefits from the stable weather, allowing trekkers to cover all sections of the trail safely and comfortably.
Winter (December – February) trekking is possible for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek 8 Days, especially for trekkers seeking less crowded trails. Temperatures are very cold, ranging from 5 to 12°C at lower elevations and dropping to -10 to -15°C at Annapurna Base Camp. Nights are extremely chilly, but the skies are often clear, offering spectacular mountain views. Crowds are smaller, which creates a peaceful trekking experience, but trekkers need to be well-prepared with warm clothing, down jackets, thermal layers, and sleeping bags. Some high-altitude tea houses may close during winter, so planning and advance booking are recommended for the 8-day trek.
Monsoon (June – August) is the least recommended season for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek, especially for the 8-day itinerary, due to heavy rainfall. Trails can become slippery and muddy, with occasional landslides, making trekking challenging. Frequent rain can reduce visibility of the mountains, and forests and rivers become lush but leech-prone. Very few trekkers attempt this season, so tea houses may have limited availability. Monsoon trekking requires extra caution, waterproof gear, and flexible plans, and is generally not suitable for those completing the 8-day trek on a fixed schedule.
Recommended Seasons:
- Spring (March-May): Ideal for blooming forests, clear skies, and moderate temperatures.
- Autumn (September-November): Best for stable weather, excellent visibility, and scenic views.
These seasons ensure safety, comfort, and maximum enjoyment for trekkers completing the Annapurna Base Camp Trek 8 Days or the longer classic trek.

Reviews
8 Days Annapurna Base Camp trek. Great!!
Company : we choose Nepalhikingadventure because we had contact with several companies but Bisnu’s really stood out. From the detailed website to the clear information that we’ve got through several emails before deciding. The communication before, during and after the trek is really top notch!! We also rented sleeping bags and a warm jacket for the trip.
Guides : We met Goré (our guide) and Harry (our porter) the morning of the trek. Immediately we saw that these guys were gonna be the best guides for our trip. They both were so friendly and helpful. Sharing stories about the area, The mountains and life in general. Every question got an answer. They helped in every way.
The Trek : What a beautiful trek it was. From jungle forest to snowy mountains. Every day was a treat. Sleeping in teahouses, warming up near the fire every evening. Getting good food and waking up to see those mountains again. The only thing were the stairs. Every day you go up and down and up again thousands of stone carved stairs … But still, our guides made us take them at ease with time for pauses while taking in the views. You could see that Covid was still around. There weren’t as many tourists as normal, but we loved the calmness of it all. It made it even more intense.
Conclusion : if you are planning anything in Nepal, please contact these guys!! The have so much to offer and they do it with such kindness.
