Detail Itinerary

Your will arrive in Nepal at Tribhuvan International, Kathmandu. Tribhuvan International Airport is the only international airport in Nepal. You can meet our representatives from Nepal Hiking Adventure outside the airport terminal. A signboard that “ Nepal Hiking Adventure” will help you find these representatives easily. You can check into your hotel with them. You have a couple of options as to how you can spend your day/ evening. Either you can relax in the hotel or you can go for exploring small towns like Thamel on your own.

You will meet our representatives from Nepal Hiking Adventures in the morning and discuss about your Salleri (Phaplu) Everest Base Camp Trek. In this pre-trip meeting, you will have plenty of information about the weather, difficulty, etc during the trip. You can meet your guide and meet the various members of our trip.

You will got for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley after the briefing. The many UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu make it a beautiful place for excellent sightseeing tour.

Pashupatinath Temple, which lies on the banks of the river Bagmati, is one of the holiest sites in Kathmandu. It is the biggest Hindu temple in the world. The main temple is two-storeyed. It also has smaller monuments as well as places for pilgrimage surrounding it.

Boudhanath and Swayambhunath are the most famous Buddhist temples you will go to in this trip. The feel of the Buddhist culture as well as the peaceful setting of these two monasteries are make for a wonderful visit to these places.

You will also get to two Durbar Squares- Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square- during this trip. Historical temples like Krishna Mandir, Hanuman Dhoka, museums and other smaller temples make these two squares some of the most delightful in this trip. You can see the perfect representations medieval architecture of Nepal in these two squares.

You will head out for a drive from Kathmandu to Salleri in the morning in a local Jeep/bus. The drive takes place on a newly constructed roadway and is 9-10 hours long. You can get wonderful views of the riverside, landscape as well as some scattered villages along the way. The bus ride takes you to a bridge at Sunkoshi River as you pass Okhaldhunga. Along the way, you can also get to see mountain peaks like Dudh Kunda (Numbur Himal), Everest and others. Finally, after a long drive, you will reach Salleri, which your overnight stop. Salleri is a village in Solukhumbu district.

After having breakfast in your teahouse in Salleri, you will start your trek to Taksindo. The trek to Taskindo is 5-6 hours long and quite a pleasant one. The trek takes you along the countryside. As you cross small streams and hill gorges along the way, you can also see Numbur Himal.  The trek to Everest Base Camp which starts after a flight to Phalpu also takes the same route. After trekking for a couple of hours, you will reach Fera. From Fera, you will walk through Pine jungles till you reach Ringmo. A further 2 hours of a trek from Ringmo will take you to Taskindo.

The hills of Taksindo are an amazing vantage point to get some excellent scenes of Salleri village.  You can also get to see the monasteries in Taskindo. These monasteries are representations of the culture of Tibetan Buddhism in this region. As you trek from Taksindo to Kharikhola, you will get to a couple of ridges.

The second of these ridges gives you good views of Lukla and Nunthala valley. From the ridge, you will descend through the alpine forest before reaching Nunthala village. You will continue on a downhill track as you cross the Dudh Koshi River. The trail takes you on an uphill before you get to Jubing. After about 2 hours ascent, you will reach your overnight stop in Kharikhola. The entire day’s trip is 5-6 hours long. Kharikhola is a densely populated village of the Magar ethnic group.

After being a part of the wonderful hospitality of the people in Kharikhola, you will start trekking to Paiya. After trekking past the village, you will cross a stream. The trail from the stream up to Bupsa hill is a continuous uphill.  Bupsa hill is home to a few tea houses. The trail from Bupsa Hill to Paiya is flat and rocky. The trek from Kharikhola to Paiya is 5-6 hours long.

The initial 2 hours of today’s trek from Paiya to Phakding is quite easy. After that, you will trek along a steep downhill to Surke. Surke lies at the base of Lukla, which is often regarded as the gateway of Everest. From Surke, the climb up to Phakding is quite gentle. You will trek through yak grazing meadows on your way to Phakding. You can also explore the local surrounding of the Sherpa village of Phakding once you reach there. The duration of the trek up to Phakding from Paiya is 5-6 hours.

You will head out to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters) this day. The trekking journey today is 6-7 hour long as you head out to the capital of Sherpas. You will descend to Dudh-Kosi river as you leave Namche Bazaar behind. You will cross the Dudh Koshi river on a suspension bridge. The trail takes you along this river for quite a while today. Ascending and descending the small hills you will encounter along the way is a part of today’s trek. Wonderful views of Mt. Thermasarkhu (6,608m) will greet you today.

After trekking for a couple of hours from Namche Bazaar, you will reach Monjo village. Monjo is home to the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. After you get past the National Park, the you will hike downhill to Jorsalle village. A further trek will lead you to the crossing of the Imja Tse river on a suspension bridge.

As you trek past Imja Tse, you will reach Namche Bazaar. Namche Bazaar is also the place where you will spend your night. Namche Bazaar has some wonderful spots from where you can catch amazing glimpses of Mt. Kwangde, Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Tawache. There are many quality restaurants, lodges, and internet cafes in Namche Bazaar where you can spend some delightful time.

Today, you will embark upon a 5-6 hour journey to Tengboche (3860 meters) from Namche Bazaar. A 20-minutes of trek will take you to the top of Namche Bazaar on a ridge. The ridge is an excellent vantage point to see Namche Bazaar down below as well as to see the high mountains.

From the ridge, you will descend gently. You will walk along some winding paths as you get to a Phungitenga (3,250m). It lies middle of an alpine forest in Sagarmatha National Park. Blue pines, rhododendron, magnolia and birch trees are the major components of this forest. You will reach Tengboche after a 2-hour trek from Phungitenga.

Tengboche Monastery is the best tourist destination in Tengboche. Having ties to Ringboche Monastery in Tibet, Tengboche is the largest monastery in Tibet. 360 degree views of the various mountains like Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse etc is another region to view the splendor of this monastery. You can observe various forms of rituals in this monastery, especially in Mani Rimdu festival.

As the sun rises over the panoramic mountains in Tengboche, the monastery is a fantastic place to catch sunrise views. You will head out to Dingboche today after having breakfast. As you walk through rhododendron, birch, and pine trees, you will get to see Mt Ama Dablam, Mt.Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse. After crossing this forest, you will cross the narrow gorge of Imja-Tse river on a bridge. Then, you will trek to Pangboche village (3,900m) on a gentle uphill trail.

Trekking past Pangboche, you will get to another gorgeous village by the name of Shomare. Here, you can get some close-up views of Mt. Ama-Dablam. The trail from Shomare leading to Imja Tse valley is on the North Eastern side. Finally, the trail from Imja Tse takes you to Dingboche (4400 meters). The trek to Dingboche from Tengboche is 5-6 hours long.

Yu will cross an elevation of 4000 meters for the first time during this trek as you get to Dingboche. Such a high altitude with its lower amount of oxygen means that you need to get acclimatized to the altitude of this region. So you will spend this day acclimatizing in Dingboche.

One activity in this acclimatization day is the trek up to the Nagarjuna Hill. A perfect place to spend your day-Nagarjuna hill- is a popular spot in Dingboche that gives you staggering glimpses of Lhotse, Nuptse, Everest, Island Peak and Chukung Ri. Dingboche, with its awesome location and friendly people, is also a popular place for a gentle stroll around the village.

You will head out to Lobuche(4910 meters) today. The duration of today’s journey is 5-6 hour long. As you hike past Dingboche, you will get to a prayer ridge. This ridge is a beautiful spot. Views of Pheriche village as well Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde, Kongma-Tse, Mt. Makalu and the great wall of Nuptse are awesome from Lobuche. Trekking further, you will get to Thugla. A strenuous trek from Thugla will soon follow so that you get to the ridge at Thugla pass.

The ridge at Thugla Pass is a beautiful spot for mountain viewing. You trek will be punctuated by memorials of mountaineers who died on the way to climbing Everest. Lobuche village, which lies at an altitude of 4900 meters, is one hour of trek away from Thugla Pass ridge. Lobuche is at the base of the Khumbu glacier. Lobuche Far East, Lobuche West, and Lobuche West are the peaks that give Lobuche village its name.

Today you will trek to the Everest Base Camp(5,357 meters). The initial one hour of the trek is quite gentle. After a gentle trek for about an hour, you will walk along a steep rocky moraine on your way to Gorak Shep. As you walk in the moraine, you will be able to see glacial ponds and icebergs of Khumbu glacier. The trail from the moraine to Gorak Shep is a gentle descent.

A much needed break in Gorak Shep will be followed by a trek to Everest Base Camp. You will encounter plenty of rocky dunes, moraine, and streams during the trail to the Everest Base Camp. Everest Base Camp offers you the best views of Mt. Khumbutse, Khumbu glacier and Khumbu Icefall. You will head back to Gorak Shep after spending some quality time in Everest Base Camp. You will spend your night in Gorak Shep.

Today the hike starts quite early in the morning. You will head out to Kala Patthar to get some of the most splendid views sunrise. You will head out on a one hour trek to Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep. The views of the sun rising over mountains like Mt.Pumori, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and other peaks from Kala Pathar will be something you will cherish all your life.

After the hike to Kala Patthar, you will descend to Gorak Shep and have your breakfast. After the breakfast, you will descend further as you lose more than 1000 meters in altitude. Finally, you will get to the village of Pheriche (4255 meters). Today’s trek, including the hike to Kala Patthar and back, is 4-5 hours long.

From Pheriche, you will hike back to Namche Bazaar which will take about 6-7 hours. After trekking for a few minutes, you will get to a small bridge. The trail mostly descends down with some exceptions of some gentle uphills along the way from the bridge. The trail enjoins Tengboche after an hours’ walk. Along the way, you can enjoy the wonderful beauty of the alpine vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park. Eventually, you will reach Namche Bazaar.

This will be the final day of trekking. You will trek to Lukla after making way for a 6 hours trekking journey. Today’s trek one of the most pleasant in in the entire trip. This is due to the fact that the trek is almost exclusively downhill. You will reach the outskirts of the entrance to Sagarmatha National park before arriving Lukla eventually. The stay in Lukla will also be your final stay in the Everest region. You will also have your final dinner with your guide and porter today.

You will take an early morning flight to Kathmandu this day. If the weather is not quite clear for a flight, you might also have to wait for a delayed flight. This 35 minute scenic flight will be your last chance to catch the views of the mountains of the Everest region. Our representatives will help you transfer in your hotel after you arrive at the airport.

This will be your final day in this awesome country of the Himalayas- Nepal. We will drop you at the airport a couple of hours before your scheduled flight. Before leaving for the airport, you need to confirm that you have secured tour air ticket as well as other travel related documents. We wish you have a wonderful departure back home.
