Detail Itinerary

Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu is the only international airport in Nepal. Your flight will land here. The representatives from Nepal Hiking Adventure will be there to meet you outside the airport terminal. They will hold a display sign that reads “ Nepal Hiking Adventure”. That will help you meet them better. They will also help you transfer to your hotel and check-in. You can relax in the hotel or you can go for a stroll around beautiful small towns in Kathmandu like Thamel.

In the morning, our representatives will meet you to discuss the Jiri-Everest Base Camp trek. You will get plenty of information regarding the trek like the weather, difficulty, what you need to expect during this trip etc during this briefing. This will also be a good time to bond with your guide and meet various members of this trip.

We have planned for a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu valley today. Kathmandu is a modern city that is replete of many temples. Here, you will be able to enjoy the various UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Pashupatinath Temple is the most popular of all the Hindu sites that are in the list of the World Heritage Sites. This temple is on the banks of the river Bagmati. It is the holiest site of Lord Shiva from all around the world. There are plenty of other monuments and pilgrimage that surround this two-storeyed temple.

Two of the most popular Buddhist temples in Nepal are Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. These two temples not only lie in peaceful setting but also reflect the wonderful Buddhist culture in Nepal. Swayambhunath lies atop a hill. Many people refer to Boudhanath as “Little Tibet”.

You will also go to Kathmandu Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square on today’s sightseeing tour. Numerous aesthetic temples like Krishna Mandir, Hanuman Dhoka and museums in these places make the visit here rather wonderful. All of them are perfect representations of the architecture of Nepal in the medieval period.

You will drive to Bhandara today on a 8 hour bus ride. The road trip will take you towards Bhote Koshi River on the road connects Nepal to Tibet. You will reach a quaint market along the way called Lamosangu, which is near the Nepal- Tibet border. The bus ride will further take you to Bhote Koshi river.

After you leave this river, the road takes you along a steep until to Charikot. The road then heads towards Tama Kosi River before reaching Jiri. Many trekkers also start their treks from Jiri. Jiri was the only way to get to Everest before the construction of an airport in Lukla. From Jiri, you will head further to reach Bhandara (2190 meters) after an 8 hour bus ride. Bhandar is home to a large Stupa as well as some scattered houses and farm fields.

You will start your trek from Bhandar. You will trek to Sete (2575 meters) on a 6-7 hour journey. As you start your trek, you will hike downhill passing cool forest shades. As you trek towards Phedi, you will observe some change in vegetation as the climate changes. From Phedi, you will walk past some rice paddy fields and streams along the way.

After 3-4 hours, you will reach a village beneath the ridge of Lamjura nd Pikey Danda called Kenja village(1634 meters). To the north of this village the Numbur peaks. After a short break in this village, you will trek a few hours before reaching Sete, which is a village where cool wind blows.

The wind gets even cooler as you leave Sete to reach Junbesi (2675 meters). After hiking past some gorgeous rhododendron and pine forests, you reach a small settlement of Ghurasey. Ghaurassey, which has a few houses, and lies on a quiet spot in the middle of the forest.

After a short break in Ghaurasey, you will Lamjura-la pass (3500 meters) after crossing a ridge along the way.

From Lamjura-la pass, you will  reach a Sherpa village called Toctoc after trekking past rhododendron forests along the way. From Toctoc, the trail descends all the way Junbesi (2675 meters). The duration of today’s trek is 5-6 hours. Junbesi, which is a Sherpa village, has some popular tourist destinations like Chorten Monastery and a school built by Sir Edmund Hillary.

Today’s trek to Nunthala (2190 meters) will be 5-6 hours long. Initially the trek descends to the river below before heading out to Solung danda along an uphill. Solung Danda is a small hill offering views of some of the mountains of the Everest region. After trekking downhill to Beni Khola, you will walk for 30 minutes to Ringmo village. After trekking up an uphill for an hour, you will Trakshindu pass at 3,070m, which offers views of Kusum Kanguru, Thamserku and Kantega.

From Taksindu Pass, you will go to Takshindu Gompa. The trail from Takshindu Gompa to Nunthala is a downhill walk of 2 hours. Nunthala, a large hilly village full of Sherpa and Rai village, is also known as Manidingma.

As you begin your trek from Nunthala to Bupsa Danda, you will walk along slopes along forests and fields before reaching a suspension bridge over the Dudh Koshi river. From the suspension bridge, you you will hike uphill to Jubing(1,675m). The next village you will reach from Jubing is the small settlement of Kharikhola, where you can observe Mani walls, water wheels, and a town market.

From Kharikhola, you will head out to a ridge that crosses the tributaries of Kharikhola. A challenging hike of one hour from Kharikhola will take you to small settlement of Bupsa, which is home to astounding views of hills and valleys. Today’s hike from Numthala to Bupsa Danda is 4-5 hours long.

The trail from Bupsa Danda to Puiyan trail initially climbs through a valley. This valley is full of oak and rhododendron forest. You can also occasionally have glimpses of Languor monkeys. Trekking further, you will cross the next tributary after one hour. You will continue your hike to the north before reaching reach Puiyan (2796m) in 5-6 hours. You will spend your night here.

After trekking for an hour, you will get to a ridge at 2800m. As you hike further, you will get to another ridge. From the ridge, you will descend to Sukhe (2293m) after 2 hours of trekking. This settlement lies alongside a tributary of the river Dudh Koshi. The trail then leads you towards a dispersed village called Chaurikharka. The trail from Chaurikharka takes you to a deep gorge with a beautiful waterfall. After hiking further from this waterfall, you will reach Phakding (2610 meters). Today’s trek will be 5-6 hours long.

You will embark upon your trekking journey to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters). The trekking journey is 6-7 hour long today. Initially, you will reach to a suspension bridge to cross the Dudh-Kosi river. The trail takes you along this river as you ascend and descend the small hills along the way. As you are trekking, you can see some wonderful views of Mt. Thermasarkhu (6,608m).

A couple of hours of trek from Namche Bazaar will take you to the village of Monjo. The entrance of Sagarmatha National Park lies in this village. After you enter the National Park, the trail leads you downhill to Jorsalle village before you reach to a suspension bridge to cross the Imja-Tse river.

From the Imja Tse river, you will trek uphill to Namche Bazaar(3440 meters). You will spend your night in Namche Bazaar, which is often referred to as the Capital of Sherpas. You can also get to some delightful in Namche Bazaar from where you can catch amazing glimpses of Mt. Kwangde, Mt. Kusum Kanguru, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, and Mt. Tawache.  

You will spend your time going out to the various parts of Namche Bazaar today. Lying at an altitude of more than 3000 meters, Namche Bazaar is a place where you definitely need to spend a day acclimatizing. This also severely cuts down chances of catching altitude sickness. We have organized a few optional activities for you in order for you to acclimatize.

If you follow a small hiking trail in Namche Bazaar, you will reach the headquarters of Sagarmatha National Park. The headquarter lies in the top of a hill. This hill is a perfect setting to see the glorious mountains of the Everest region.

You can also go to the historical museum of Sagarmatha National Park Museum this day. The museum answers a lot of queries you might have with regards to the culture, religion, mountaineering history, flora, fauna etc. of the Himalayas. Acclimatizing hikes and sightseeing today will take around 3-4 hours today.

You will head out on a 5-6 hour journey to Tengboche (3860 meters) from Namche Bazaar this day. A 20-minutes hike from Namche Bazaar will take you to the top of a ridge. This ridge, which lies at the top of Namche Bazaar, is a beautiful spot to look at some mountains and enjoy the beauty of Namche Bazaar.

A gentle descent through some winding hills will take you to a village that lies in the middle of an alpine forest in Sagarmatha National Park called Phungitenga (3,250m). Various species of blue pines, rhododendron, magnolia and birch trees make up a significant portion of this forest. After trekking for around 2 hours from Phungitenta, you will reach the resting place for today which is the village of Tengboche.

Tengboche Monastery is the best tourist destination in Tengboche. This is the largest which is the largest monastery in the Everest region and has its ties to the Ringboche Monastery in Tibet. Delightful panoramic views of various mountains like Ama Dablam, Everest, Nuptse etc gives a majestic touch to this monastery. You can observe various forms of rituals in this monastery, especially in Mani Rimdu festival.

You can enjoy some wonderful sunrise in Tengboche as the sun rises over the panoramic mountains here. After breakfast, you will head out to Dingboche. The initial part of today’s trek is downhill as you walk through forests that are full of rhododendron, birch, and pine trees. You can also see mountains like Mt Ama Dablam, Mt.Everest, Nuptse and Lhotse as you trek. After crossing this forest, you will cross the narrow gorge of Imja-Tse river on a bridge before heading out to Pangboche village (3,900m). The trail from the gorge to Pangboche village is a gentle uphill.

After you leave Pangboche, you will reach the beautiful village of Shomare, which offers you some close-up views of Mt. Ama-Dablam. The trail from Shomare is on the North Eastern side leading to Imja Tse valley. Finally, the trail from Imja Tse takes you to Dingboche. The trek up to Dingboche (4400 meters) is 5-6 hours long.

Dingboche is the first destination in your trek where you will cross an elevation of 4000 meters. At such a high altitude, you have a lower amount of oxygen than low altitude regions. So you will spend this day acclimatizing in Dingboche.

A short hike up to Nagarjuna Hill will be a perfect way to spend this day. The Nagarjuna hill is a popular spot in Dingboche to observe the astounding beauty of Lhotse, Nuptse, and the Everest. Island Peak and Chukung Ri are two of the smaller peaks in the Everest region whose glimpses you can have from Dingboche. You can also stroll around Dingboche village on your own.

You will head out to Lobuche(4910 meters) today on a 5-6 hour trekking journey. After leaving Dingboche, you will trek to a prayer ridge. This ridge is a beautiful spot from where you can get wonderful views of Pheriche village as well Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam, Pokalde, Kongma-Tse, Mt. Makalu and the great wall of Nuptse. Trekking further from the ridge will take you to Thugla. A strenuous trek from Thugla and you will get to a ridge at Thugla pass.

Like all other ridges, the ridge at Thugla Pass offers wonderful views of mountains. Thugla Pass also has some memorials of mountaineers who died on the way to climbing Everest. A one hour uphill trek from Thugla Pass and you will reach Lobuche village, which lies at an altitude of 4900 meters. Lobuche lies near the foot of the Khumbu glacier. The name of the village derives out of the names of peaks like Lobuche Far East, Lobuche West, and Lobuche West.

Today you will trek to the Everest Base Camp(5,357 meters). The initial one hour of the trek is quite gentle. After a gentle trek for about an hour, you will walk along a steep rocky moraine on your way to Gorak Shep. As you walk in the moraine, you will be able to see glacial ponds and icebergs of Khumbu glacier. The trail from the moraine to Gorak Shep is a gentle descent.

After a much needed break in Gorak Shep, you will head out to Everest Base Camp. You will walk along rocky dunes, moraine, and streams on your way to Everest Base Camp. From the Base Camp, you will get the best views of Mt. Khumbutse and Khumbu glacier and Khumbu Icefall. After spending some quality time in Everest Base Camp, you will head back to Gorak Shep and spend your night there.

Today the hike starts quite early in the morning. You will head out to Kala Patthar to get some of the most splendid views sunrise. You will head out on a one hour trek to Kala Patthar from Gorak Shep. The views of the sun rising over mountains like Mt.Pumori, Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse and other peaks from Kala Pathar will be something you will cherish all your life.

After the hike to Kala Patthar, you will descend to Gorak Shep and have your breakfast. After the breakfast, you will descend further as you lose more than 1000 meters in altitude. Finally, you will get to the village of Pheriche (4255 meters). Today’s trek, including the hike to Kala Patthar and back, is 4-5 hours long.

From Pheriche, you will hike back to Namche Bazaar. This will take about 6-7 hours in total. You will get to a small bridge after trekking for a few minutes. Despite minor exceptions of gentle uphills along the way from the bridge, the trail mostly descends down. After trekking for an hour, you will get to the trail than enjoings Tengboche. Along the way, you can enjoy the wonderful beauty of the alpine vegetation of Sagarmatha National Park. Eventually you will reach Namche Bazaar.

This will be the final day of trekking as you head out to Lukla on a 6 hours journey. The trek is mostly downhill which makes today’s trek one of the most pleasant in in the entire trip. As you walk, you will get outside the premises of Sagarmatha National park before eventually reaching to Lukla. You will spend your final night in the Everest region in Lukla. You will also have your final dinner with your guide and porter today.

You will take an early morning flight to Kathmandu this day. If the weather is not quite clear for a flight, you might also have to wait for a delayed flight. This 35 minute scenic flight will be your last chance to catch the views of the mountains of the Everest region. Our representatives will help you transfer in your hotel after you arrive at the airport. .

This will be your final day in the glorious country of Nepal. We will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport. You will reach there a couple of hours before your scheduled flight. Before leaving for the airport, you need to secure your air ticket  and necessary travel documents. Nepal Hiking Adventure wishes you have a wonderful departure back home.
