Sunrise at Poon Hill Trekking

Sunrise at Poon Hill Trekking

Poon Hill, one of the best view points in Nepal, has been chosen for this trekking. From Poon Hill you can observe a 360- degree view of the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain range, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu just at your eye-level. In the pre-dawn hours people wake up early and way up to the top of the hill to catch the impressive sunrise view. The sun rising up behind the mountains is really amazing and snapping shot after shots the views with your camera would be an unforgettable experience. If you are making Poon Hill trekking in late autumn or winter or early spring you have to take all loads of warm clothing to cuddle up.The temperature during this time remains quite cold and goes down a little below freezing at Poon Hill. In the middle of winter there might be a lot of snow and ice on the trail. However, Poon Hill trek can be organized year round.

Sunrise at Poon Hill trek is a 4 – 5 day hill walk in the Annapurna mountain range and it requires a moderate level of fitness to complete. The max elevation of this trek is 3,210 meters and as such there is no real risk of altitude sickness.

After an hour and half drive from Pokhara you will reach to Birethanti which is starting point of trek. Leaving Tikhedunga you will walk through terraced slopes, interesting small villages numerous small farms, oak and Rhododendron forests and encounter people of different ethnic groups. From Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2840meters) the trail is mostly uphill, and need to walk mostly on stone steps.

On Poon Hill Sunrise trek you will basically hike from village to village, stay in decent but barebones lodges, and get the awesome delicious freshly cooked food along the way. The menus at each teahouse or inns is pretty much all the same, offering local Nepali dal bhat, spaghetti, bread, omelet, Tibetan bread, porridge, fried noodles, and fried rice.

We conclude that Ghorepani Poon Hill is truly a rewarding trek that can be enjoyed by every lover of nature.
