Manaslu Circuit Trekking

Manaslu Circuit Trekking

Manaslu Circuit trekking is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. Manaslu region is culturally and naturally fascinating for up close views of beautiful mountains, rich cultural heritage, exciting adventure, incomparable beauty and variety of flora and fauna. This trekking is named after Mt. Manaslu (8163m), the world's eighth highest mountain and is getting more and more popular ever since the region is permitted for trekking to foreigners from 1992. Manaslu Circuit trek begins from just 700m altitude at Arughat (or Gorkha Bazaar) and goes up to 5160m on high pass varying from sub-tropical to high alpine terrain and climates. While trekking through the manaslu region, ten peaks of over 7000 meters in height are visible apart from Mt. Manaslu.

If you would like to experience both extremes of the trekking in Nepal with the most breath-taking scenery of mountain on earth, then obviously the Manaslu circuit trek could be the best option where you can see the Tibetan community at Nupri village, north of Manaslu beyond the river Budi Gandaki. In Samagoan (3450m) you can visit the glacial green lake of Birendra, before crossing over Samdo, another popular village on the way to Manaslu base camp. Beyond Samdo you can visit some Buddhist monasteries where Tibetan monks are seen engaged in religious practices. Both Samagaon and Samdo are very popular for the Tibetan cultures traditional lifestyle of the people.

The biggest challenge of the trek is to cross the snow bound Larkya La pass (5100m). After crossing the pass you gently walk down through tropical areas, bursting with ferns, bamboo, pine trees, waterfalls, aqua-blue green lakes and ultimately end the trek at Beshi Sahar, the starting point of the Annapurna circuit trek.

Manaslu region is a restricted area .To get entry into Manaslu region requires special trekking permit for foreigners.
