Machhapuchhre Base Camp Trekking

Machhapuchhre Base Camp Trekking

This Machhapuchre Base Camp Trekking has recently been promoted as a new trekking trail that offers wilderness experience and captivating views of Annapurna mountain ranges including Machhapucchre, Gangapurna, Himal Chuli and many others peaks. If you are interested to immerse in nature and cultural lifestyle of the local ethnic groups of people then this trek will be a perfect choice for you.

Machhapuchre Base Camp Trekking trail was identified and developed by TAAN Western Regional Chapter, Pokhara with the objective of promoting Pokhara and its surrounding rural areas. Machhapuchre trekking trail traverses through seven important villages like Lachok, Ghachok, Machhapuchhre, Ribhan, Lwang Ghalel, Sardikhola and Dhital benefiting 16000 local villagers and several communities. One of the highlights of this trek is that one can do either full board camping or homestay as per the interest and time frame. Very few people know about this newly explored Machhapuchre Base Camp Trekking trail which has very high potential to compete with already existing popular trails like the Annapurna circuit, Annapurna Sanctuary and Everest region trekking.

As you walk higher up into the hills covered with natural vegetation changes from the tropical species to more temperate stands of forest trees including oak, beech and rhododendron. These finally give way to coniferous forests of pine and, ultimately, juniper just below the tree line.

Wildlife and natural greenery make Machhapuchre Base Camp Trekking lively. Caves at Lahachok, a tea garden at Lawang and waterfalls are the other attractions of the trail. According to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) there are 1226 species of plants, 102 mammals, 474 birds, 39 reptiles and 22 amphibians in the Annapurna Region. One can enjoy perfect peace and silence while on trek.

Machhapuchre Base Camp Trekking begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From Pokhara we drive up to Naya Pul and follow a trail through terraced fields, dense forest up to Machhapuchre Base Camp.
