Lobuche East Peak Climbing

Lobuche East Peak Climbing

There are two distinct Lobuche peaks: Lobuche East (6,119m/ 20,075ft) and Lobuche West (6,145m/ 20,161ft). Lobuche East is 26 metres (85 ft) higher than Lobuche West. Between the two peaks there exists a long deeply notched ridge. Lobuche East Peak is considered one of the popular and easy climbing peaks in Nepal. This peak looks attractive and offers many choices of routes for climbing. Seen from near Pheriche, the dark triangle of its rocky east face rises above the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier towards icy skyline. This skyline forms the south ridges, the junction of the east faces with the glaciated south west face and the line of the normal route of ascent. This, in turn, leads to the summit ridge running north- west from the top of the east faces through several small summits to the east peak.

After a scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, you will begin the trek through Dudh Kosi valley to Namche Bazaar. After Namche Bazaar we follow the same route to Kala Pattar (5545 m), Everest Base Camp and set up the camp at Lobuche Base Camp. Here, we will have our own kitchen and Sherpa fixes the tents. Our guide will brief about the climb and logistics. Next day morning our climbing to Lobuche East peak begins and normally it takes 2 days to summit the peak. From the summit you will enjoy magnificent views of Everest (8848 m), Ama Dablam (6856m), Kantega (6809m), Kwangde (6194m), Nuptse (7879m), and Lhotse (8511m).

The other highlights of the trekking and peak climbing trip in the Everest region is exploring of the pristine Sherpa villages, lively Sherpa culture and serene Buddhist monasteries along the route. Normally it requires 6-7 hours everyday walking up to Everest Base Camp. You don't need to have previous climbing experience to climb Lobuche peak. However, outdoor experience and high level of fitness is essential. The itinerary of this trip has been designed professionally, taking you to the summit via Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, Lobuche, Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar, which allows you enough days to get proper acclimatization.
