Langtang Valley Trekking

Langtang Valley Trekking

Langtang valley trekking also called 'the valley of glaciers' is considered one of the most popular and rewarding short treks in the Langtang region. The overland journey begins to the trailhead north of Kathmandu via Trishuli road enjoying the views of snow clad peaks and mountain scenery all the way. Langtang valley trekking admittedly cannot boast of presence of any huge Himalayan peaks, but nonetheless its scenery is just as spectacular and photogenic as all through the mountain trails. You will encounter most friendly and hospitable local people in the villages inhabited by both Tamang and Sherpa ethnic communities who follow Tibetan Buddhism and traditional lifestyle. Here, you will find most of the local people engaged in weaving, painting, farming and raising the cattle. Trekking to Langtang valley can be organized in teahouse (lodge basis) and it is more economical way rather than camping trekking.

The valley is abundant in wide arrays of flora and fauna, also provides opportunities to relax in local settlements and to observe mountain views while trekking. The Langtang valley is close to the border of Tibet and has from subtropical to alpine climatic zones. Langtang Lirung peak (7246m) is the highest peak of the area. Langtang Valley trekking is recommendable for novice and family groups who want to enjoy beautiful scenery and experience fascinating rural life and local culture in Nepal.

Langtang national park is enriched with the deciduous Oak and Maple, and evergreen vegetations like Pine, and various types of Rhododendrons. Animal life includes Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkeys and Red Pandas. Some trekkers are believed to have seen Yeti in the Langtang area. An opportunity to visit a traditional cheese factory is an extra highlight of the trek. Here, one can observe the traditional cheese making method in the factory.

The natural beauty, spectacular mountains views, hospitality of the local people make the Langtang valley trekking worth remembering in one's lifetime.
