Langtang Gosainkund Lake Trekking

Langtang Gosainkund Lake Trekking

Langtang Gosainkunda Lake Trekking is synonymous as both the sites lie north of Kathmandu. Langtang is the name of one of the regions like Everest, Annapurna in Nepal. In the Langtang region there is a national park which is also named after Langtang and this park is popularly called Langtang National Park. To make entry into Langtang National Park entrance ticket is required for every visitor and for trekking throughout Langtang region TIMS is required. For Langtang National Park entry and trekking in the Langtang region passport photos are also required to make the permits. There are approximately 5000 people inhabit inside the park and most of them belong to Tamang ethnic communities. Langtang National Park's 25% is completely forested with deciduous Oak and Maple, pines and various types of Rhododendron vegetation and in animal life includes Himalayan black bear, the goat-like Himalayan tahr, Rhesus monkeys and Red Pandas.

Gosainkund is a name of one of the major glacier lakes out of several other glacier lakes adjoining it. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims visit the lakes during a full- moon festival in August and Hindu people believe that the Hindu god Mahadev (Shiva), intoxicated by grief due to his wife’s (Pārbati) death, felt thirsty so he hit the stone with his holy stick, thus creating the lakes. In the same place Lake Gosainkund originates and Hindu people believe that the image of Mahadev can be seen in the middle surface of the water. The lake is also scared to Buddhists. To reach Lake Gosainkund you have to make uphill climb and it is really very difficult. The view from Gosainkund is very stark and spectacular. Passing through the cliff around this turquoise- shaped lake might make you a bit afraid of. Here, the temperature remains cold most of the time of the year and worth visiting around Lake Gasainkund.

Nepal Hiking Adventure provides a professional trekking guide and a porter to make the trekking journey safe and comfortable all along the route.
