Dudh Pokhari Khaling Trekking is newly introduced and actively promoted route in the unexplored area of the Everest region. This trekking is named after a beautiful lake and one of the most ancient indigenuous ethnolinguistic groups of Nepal. Trekking to Dudh Pokhari Khaling gives opportunities for those wanting to experience unique trans-Himalayan culture and explore natural treasures of the area. Khaling Rais are dominant ethnic group of this area. This trekking will help a lot to researchers and anthropologists to explore religious traditions, folk stories and tradition of the local ethnic group of people who are struggling to preserve their own cultural heritage. Khaling Rais have their own language and proactive both in joint and nuclear family ties. Chhan (locally fermented millet/rice wine) is an indispensable part of their food and culture. The Bhume Dance, the Chandi Dance and the Naghi Pooja are some of their major rituals. They believe that it is essential to worship their ancestors and the earth deity in order to continue human existence. Although they belong to Kirant ethnic group of Nepal, the Khaling Rais celebrate the Hindu and Buddhist festivals as well.
