Dhampus Peak Climbing

Dhampus Peak Climbing

Dhampus Peak (6012m.) is one of the easy peaks which lies North-East of the big Dhaulagiri massif. Locally it is also known as Thapa peak.No technical climbing skills are required for it. However, snow/ice is advisable. Dhampus peak climbing adventure is combined with trekking. The trip begins with a short drive from Pokhara to Beni and then continues drive up to Tatopani. In Tatopani you can take bath in the natural hot spring and relax. Bathing in the natural hot spring is especially recommended for those suffering from rheumatism, gout and skin diseases.

As you trek from Tatopani to higher altitude, you will come across a wide diversity of ethnic groups of people as you pass through diverse settlements. While trekking, you will have experience on Nepal' natural diversity, cultural variety, different types of flora and fauna and magnificent Himalayan views including Annapurna and Machhapuchare (Fishtail) along the trail. The Dhampus area is densely populated mostly by the Gurungs, one of the mid-hill ethnic groups of people. Gurungs are famous Gurkha soldiers serving the British, Indian and Nepalese armies.

From Tukuche we follow the normal trekking route via Dhampus pass (5200m). We set up our first camp at 4000 meters, second camp at 4900 meters, highest camp at 5200 meters and finally attempt summit to Dhampus peak at 6012m. From the summit you will enjoy more than thirty mountain views, Dhaulagiri glacier and Kaligandagi gorge, the deepest in the world. After making a successful summit, we retrace down to Dhampus base camp, continue trek up to Jomsom and we fly back to Pokhara and subsequently to Kathmandu.

The itinerary for Dhampus Peak climbing expedition designed by Nepal Hiking Adventure will allow you much flexibility, a great opportunity to explore socio-environment of the area and experience of trekking and climbing in a short time.
